Dorset Farmers Market COVID-19 (Customer Update - June 2020)

Dorset Farmers Market want to assure our customers that despite the challenges thrown up by COVID 19 we are committed to providing fresh, local produce in a safe environment.

To be a member of Dorset Farmers Markets all of our producers complete a COVID-19 workplace risk assessment to ensure that their businesses are operating to the required Government COVID-19 standards and meet all Food Standards Agency guidelines.

Here’s what we’ve had to change since we last saw you, but we really need your help to make it work…..

We’ve reviewed the operational procedures for each market to maximise safety and reduce exposure risk to all.

  • Signs, floor markings and a dedicated person will be on hand at each market to advise you on how things work. You will be strongly encouraged to remain 2m apart.

  • We love seeing you all but please can only the person doing the shopping come in to the market. Groups and families will have to be discouraged, much as we hate doing so.

  • Alcohol gel, towel, gloves etc will be available for you to use. Stallholders will provide their own PPE and make sure that their stalls are regularly wiped down with disinfectant.

  • Each market will have a one way system with numbers of customers limited at any one time. You may be asked to wait before going in and only one customer can be served at a stall at a time.

  • Stall numbers will be reduced to allow for social distancing measures. Stallholders will provide enclosed gazebos when trading outside and stalls will be appropriately distanced when trading indoors. We just ask that you try not to stand too close to our stallholders.

  • We are trying to use card machines only so please can you pay by card wherever possible.

  • Communal surfaces will be disinfected regularly but you are encouraged to identify any areas where we can make things safer. There will be 2 market managers at each market wherever possible - one for our stallholders and one for you.

  • Now for the worst bit…… No-one enjoys a good natter and banter more than we do, but for the time being we need to keep all transactions as short as possible. Once all of this is over we can go back to gossiping, hugging, making a fuss of your kids and dogs etc. We can still smile and laugh though, and we are ALWAYS pleased to see you.

We can’t thank you enough for supporting our local producers and their livelihoods.
